Dr. McDonald graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine with a focus on equine medicine and completed a one-year internship at Pacific Crest Equine. She later shifted her focus to small animal medicine, specifically emergency care. She is interested in ophthalmologic emergencies, trauma surgery, and teaching and training rotating student externs. When away from the hospital she enjoys gardening, cooking, watching road bicycle racing, and working on her Italian and French. She loves hanging out with her daughter and “somewhat trained” mixed-breed dog, Gnocchi.
