Brian MacKie DVM, DACVIM-Cardiology has been diagnosing and treating dogs and cats at MarQueen Pet Emergency and Specialty Group in Roseville since our doors opened. He is a veterinary cardiologist in the Sacramento area and is available for consult appointments as well as on an emergency basis through our Emergency Service.
Dr. MacKie obtained his degrees in Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University (Go Cougs!) prior to his rotating veterinary internship here in Sacramento. It was during this time Dr. MacKie and his family fell in love with the area. After his internship Brian was accepted and completed his cardiology residency and board certification at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It was there that Dr. MacKie implemented the use of the Amplatz Caninie Ductal Occluder a non-invasive procedure to treat congenital heart disease. He has also published research papers on implantable monitors for fainting in dogs and pulmonary hypertension as well as give continuing education lectures.
After successfully completing his residency and board certification in Wisconsin Dr. MacKie returned back to the Sacramento area to practice his love of veterinary cardiology. He is highly recognized doctor and human being in both northern and central California and we are proud to have him as part of MarQueen Pet Emergency and Specialty Group.
