Dr. Overton graduated from the University of Veterinary Science in Budapest, Hungary. She spent the first 10 years slowly traveling westward and working to become an equine surgeon. She moved to California in 2007 and completed an equine surgery residency at UC Davis. It was during her time at UC Davis that her mind started wandering towards small animal emergencies and surgery.
She took the plunge and changed paths in 2012. She completed a small animal rotating internship with an emergency emphasis at the Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center and has been working as an emergency small animal veterinarian since. She recently completed the Don Low Fellowship in Emergency and Critical Care at UC Davis.
She feels lucky to be in a field that combines animals, healing and human connection. She lives in Davis with her husband who is a WildLife Biologist, her daughter and their velcoro Wire-Haired Vizsla and a Birman cat who joins their neighborhood walks. She can be found with her family camping, hiking, or on her own reading a book on how to be a better human being.
